“Everything I’m able to do I’ ve learned through life. No matter what I take pictures of, I put my heart and soul into it and always try to do my best. Important to my work is the individual picture. I photograph stories on assignment, and of course they have to be put together. But what matters most is that each picture stands on its own, with its own place and feeling.”
Born in a suburb of Grünstadt a small town in Palatinate/Germany. Until 2006, he designed advertising. Around 1998 a second, for him much more important, way began: He started to work as a photographer. Over the years he auto-didactically professionalized his passion for photography which existed since the fall of the Berlin Wall. At the end of 2005 he had the courage and decided to work as a professional photographer. His first trip brought him to the turkish part of Kurdistan. It was after several months of travel that he found himself crossing the border into Iraq. There, he met a group of guerillas. Emerging in traditional dress, after weeks embedded with the Peschmerga guerillas, he brought the world images from a forgotten conflict. Since then, Diemer has gone on to create stunning images over four continents and countless countries. His work spans conflicts, vanishing cultures, ancient traditions, contemporary culture alike and also industrial photography. Not to forget his work of marginalized social groups in his country of birth. His images are supposed to provide a differentiated look beyond the ubiquitous medial flood of pictures.
